Frequently asked questions about the Reykjavík Card

The Reykjavík City Card is available for 24, 48 or 72 hours. You'll see the current price for each variant in the booking window. More on the prices page.

After buying online you'll immediately receive a voucher by email. You exchange this for the physical City Card on arrival, for example at the Reykjavík Art Museum or one of the city museums.

Redemption points include the Reykjavík Art Museum (Hafnarhús, Kjarvalsstaðir, Ásmundarsafn) and the city museums, including the Settlement Exhibition, the Museum of Photography, the Árbær open-air museum and the Maritime Museum.

Our booking partner doesn't offer a separate child rate; all variants are priced per person. Children and teenagers under 18 often already get free entry to the city's museums; small fees may apply for buses, pools or the family zoo depending on age.

Your validity period starts with the card's first use or on collection. From that point your pass is valid for 24, 48 or 72 consecutive hours, depending on the variant. When you collect the card, you can also arrange a later start time.

No, there are no time-of-day restrictions. Within your validity period you can use museums, pools and buses at any time until your chosen number of hours runs out.

Each City Card is intended for one person and shouldn't be passed on to others. It cannot be used by several people at the same time.

If you lose the card, there's no right to a replacement. Treat it like cash: if it's lost, you'll need to buy a new one, as a lost pass is neither replaced nor refunded. Keep it somewhere safe.

The pass covers all city bus routes (Strætó) in Reykjavík and the surrounding municipalities, unlimited for the duration of your pass. Just show your card when boarding. More on the public transport page.

No. The airport bus (Strætó route 55 to Keflavík) is not included and must be paid for separately. The private Flybus shuttle is not part of the card either.

Yes. A return crossing on the passenger ferry to Viðey is included with the City Card. Show your card to staff at the ferry dock.

The Reykjavík City Card gives you one free entry to 17 museums and galleries plus the city's geothermal pools. You also get Strætó city buses, the Viðey ferry, and discounts on tours, shopping and services. See the full list on the attractions page.

Within your validity period you can visit as many different included attractions as you like. However, each attraction generally allows only one free entry; repeat visits to the same attraction are usually not included.

No, the City Card doesn't grant priority access (fast track). You queue like every other visitor, but save time because there's no need to buy tickets on site.

With Tiqets, cancellation or rescheduling is possible until 23:59 on the day before your planned start of use (per the booking channel's terms). Once the card has been redeemed and activated, no refund is available. The terms on your voucher take precedence.

You only need the voucher on arrival to exchange it. You can show it printed out or on your phone. Keep the physical card safe once you have it, as it should be treated like cash.
